We made it, took four days and I am beat, I am not sure how Dad did it in three days and then turn around and drive back the next day. Here are some pictures that Michelle took on the drive from Albuquerque to our house.

the road trip south starts.

We got off to a great start early Monday morning, drove as far as Council Bluffs, IA. and spent the night at Harrah’s Hotel & Casino. Nice place, but over priced, plus we did not do to good at the tables. (would not go back there, only 1 thumb up) Second day we drove to Denver CO. When we arrived at the Fortune Hotel & Casino, to was bright and sunny and about 55 degrees. Great place, they comp our meal and gave us each ten bucks to play with, rooms were large and clean, very nice, we will be back, two thumbs up on this place. We did OK there, did not win big, but did not lose anything either. We got up around 6 am and turned on the news/weather WHAT A SHOCK..... It was now 15 degrees and 2 to 3 inches of snow on top of ice, just what we are trying to escape. It took us about three hours just to get out of Denver, but made it out. Spending tonight, our third night, in Albuquerque, NM. We could not find the Casino we wanted to stay at, but we did find a great Mexican restaurant and had a fabulous dinner. Spent the night at a Microtel, sucks... two thumbs down. It has been years since we had to stay at Hotels, We miss our Motor Coach. We’ll be heading to Sun City West in the morning and really looking forward to our stay there, especially after having to deal with the ice in Denver today.

the start of a new chapter in our lives

It has been a long time since we have been able to post to our blog due to technical difficulties. We are happy to say we have the problem fixed and now plan to start posting again. Today we depart on a new adventure in our lives and become official snowbirds, migrating south to the warm weather Arizona has to offer. Stay tune, more to follow....

first snow

The first snow arrived today and the ice is forming across the lake. It is now time to turn our thoughts to some downhill skiing and taking off in the RV to escape this winter wonderland. The snow is nice at first, but after a few weeks of shoveling and always having to dress in layers, I am ready for spring. Since winter last longer than a couple of weeks, we'll be heading to someplace warmer. After hosting Thanksgiving for our family members and after Christmas, I will post more ofter as we as we explore the SW part of the good old USA in our gas gussling RV.

It's been a busy summer, gardening, car shows, new boat, skiing nightly, some golf, camping trips, wow, it is tough, but someone has to do it. Looking forward to a winter in Tempe, AZ.

Time to come home....

What a fantastic trip, the nine weeks just flew by. We had a magnifico time visiting Christine, Andrea and the kids. We can not thank them enough for making our stay such an enjoyable experience, grazie Andrea and Christine. We were in three countries, Germany, Switzerland, and of course Italy. Of all the cities and sites we visited Rome and Amalfi were our favorites. We also just loved all the markets and being able to spend some time with the Christine and Andrea and the Grand kids, hopefully we did not impose upon them too much. We hope you enjoyed following along with us on the blog, and grazie to everyone who left comments, we really appreciated the feedback. If you like any of the pictures copy them to your computer because this blog will be deleted in four weeks. In addition to all the pictures and videos on the blog, we have over a thousand other pictures and more videos that your welcome to look at. It has been fun, Michelle and I enjoyed every minute of it and are already planing our next trip. All we can say is to cherish life everyday and get out there and enjoy it. Ciao, Mike & Michelle.
